Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of Ofwea, reachable at ofwea.com. By reading, cooking from, or otherwise using the site, you agree to what follows. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We keep this page in plain language on purpose, because terms nobody can read protect nobody.

Using the Site

Ofwea is free to read. You may use the recipes and articles for your own personal, non-commercial cooking. You may print a recipe for your kitchen, save it for yourself, and cook from it as often as you like. What you may not do is copy our recipes or articles wholesale and republish them as your own, whether on a website, in an app, in a printed book, or anywhere else. The words and the structure of each recipe are our work, and reproducing them without permission is not allowed.

You may quote a short passage with clear credit and a link back to the original page. If you want to use more than a short quote, or reproduce a full recipe, write to us first through the contact page and ask. We are usually happy to say yes when the request is reasonable and the credit is clear.

Recipes and Your Results

We test and write our recipes with care, but cooking happens in your kitchen, not ours. Ovens run hot or cold, ingredients vary by region and season, and no two stoves behave the same way. We cannot promise that a dish will turn out identically for every reader, and we are not responsible for a meal that does not meet your expectation. Treat our times and temperatures as careful guidance and use your own senses as the final check.

You are responsible for your own food safety. Cook meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs to safe temperatures, handle raw ingredients cleanly, and store leftovers properly. If you have a food allergy or a medical condition that affects your diet, read every ingredient and consult a qualified professional when you are unsure. Nothing on this site is medical or dietary advice, and it is not a substitute for the guidance of a doctor or a registered dietitian.

Content and Accuracy

We work to keep our recipes and articles correct, and we update pages when we find an error or learn something new. Even so, we do not guarantee that every detail is complete or current at all times. Food history in particular is full of disputed claims, and where the record is uncertain we say so rather than pick a side. If you spot a mistake, tell us through the contact page and we will look into it.

Comments and Submissions

If the site allows comments or accepts messages, keep them civil and on topic. Do not post content that is unlawful, hateful, threatening, or that infringes someone else’s rights. Do not post spam or advertising. We may edit or remove any comment for any reason, and we may block a user who repeatedly breaks these rules.

When you send us a message, a correction, or a recipe suggestion, you give us permission to use it to improve the site, including publishing a corrected recipe based on what you told us. We will not publish your email address or personal details from a private message without your agreement.

Third-Party Links

We sometimes link to other sites, for example a grocery that sells a hard to find ingredient or a source that supports a point about a dish’s history. Those sites are run by other people, and we do not control them. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the linked site, and we are not responsible for their content, their products, or their handling of your data. When you follow a link away from Ofwea, the other site’s terms and policies apply.

Advertising

Ofwea shows advertising to pay for the site. Ads may be served by third parties, including Google and its partners, and those companies operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control the specific ads shown to you, and the presence of an ad is not a recommendation from us. Our cookie policy explains how advertising cookies work and how you can manage them.

Intellectual Property

The Ofwea name, the site design, and the text of our recipes and articles belong to us unless stated otherwise. Some photographs are used under licenses from their creators, and where that is the case we credit the photographer near the image. You may not take those images and use them elsewhere without checking the license yourself, since the rights belong to the photographer, not to us.

No Warranties

Ofwea is provided as it is, without promises about uptime, accuracy at every moment, or fitness for a particular purpose. We put real effort into the site, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, free of errors, or free of interruptions. From time to time a page may be down for maintenance, a link may break, or a recipe may be mid-edit. We fix these as we find them, and we thank readers who point them out.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that follow from using the site, including a dish that did not turn out, time spent on a recipe, or money spent on ingredients. You use Ofwea at your own discretion, with your own judgment as the final guide in your kitchen.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the site grows or as the law requires. When we make a meaningful change, we will update the date at the bottom of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. We suggest checking this page now and then so you know where things stand.

Contact

If any part of these terms is unclear, or you want permission to use our content, reach us through the contact page. We would rather answer a question early than sort out a misunderstanding later.
